Meeting the needs of Martha's Vineyard elders and their families, so they are healthy, safe, valued, and respected as they live out their lives on the Vineyard.
The mission of Healthy Aging Martha's Vineyard (formerly the Healthy Aging Task Force) is to create an aging-friendly island meeting the needs of the rapidly growing 65+ population and those who care for them.
Healthy Aging Martha's
Vineyard is doing this by developing approaches and incubating programs that will improve services and facilities for Island elders. . . .
The over-65 population on Martha’s Vineyard will grow exponentially over the next 30 years, 134% between 2010 and 2030, while the over-65 population in the U.S. grows only 81%, and in Massachusetts, only 61%. There is a need to plan for ways to help this expanding population.
We know you have a story about what Island elders need. It may be your own (or that of your parent, friend, or neighbor) and concern affordable housing, transportation, caregiver support, the desire to age at home, or more.
You can help by getting involved to make our Island an "aging-friendly place."
