Income – The Dilemma of Island Elders

• The Island has a fast-growing population of people who are not expected to have a lot of money in their later years.

• Most Island elders will likely want to live in their own homes as long as possible, where they’ll need help and expensive services in order to stay out of assisted living facilities.

• Many Island homes weren’t designed or built to support frail elders.

• Many Island homes are much bigger and more expensive to live in than an aging boomer, with or without a spouse or partner, needs or can afford.
