Healthy Aging Martha's Vineyard is made up of volunteers who spearhead five workgroups focused on areas found via community assessment, of highest need for Martha's Vineyard:
Help to create an Island where elders are safe, comfortable, and can age in place:
Accessible Home Modifications • Housing Options for Elders and Workforce (including Greenhouse Assisted Living Model)
Help to support and ease the stress of those caring for our Island’s elders:
Identify and Publicize Respite Care Services • Establish Support Networks
Help to develop accessible, affordable, person-centered, on-Island health care:
Accessible Home Care • Expanded Primary Care, Specialists, Dentists • Geriatrics Trained Physicians, Paraprofessionals, Support Staff • Fall Prevention
Help to expand available resources, activities and events.
Assist in mobilizing other organizations, and working together toward making Martha's Vineyard an age-friendly community. This could include brainstorming and executing community events, piloting new activities, and increasing community involvement.
Help to expand available, affordable, accessible, dignified transportation:
Small-Van Public Transportation • Off-Island Medical Transportation • Senior Ride Programs • Affordable Taxi Service
Some activities (including data collection, surveys, and planning) are underway supported by donations; others await funding being
